AILEY @ LINCOLN CENTER

Ailey at Lincoln Center: June 14-18, 2017

Come See What's New at Ailey:
3 Programs to Touch Your Heart and Stir Your Mind

See works that came about thanks to their Musical Inspirations, including the Company premiere of Robert Battle's Mass, a powerful ensemble work with an original score by John Mackey that sprang from Mr. Battle’s fascination with a choral performance of Verdi’s Requiem. Or enjoy Global Voices, which showcases the richly varied styles of choreographers from Europe and America, or a trio of diverse American works that share Bold Visions of our world today. Mr. Ailey’s beloved Revelations is the uplifting finale of each program.

MASTER CLASS and TALKBACK @ THE ATLANTA DANCE ACADEMY [TADA]

MASTER CLASS and TALKBACK @ THE ATLANTA DANCE ACADEMY [TADA]

This class is for everyone—everyone that has ever been moved by the music.  For the beginner student, this class will introduce the simultaneous power and subtlety of dynamic movement; for the advanced student, it will reiterate and motivate developing artistry.

This contemporary jazz class takes elements of Horton and Graham-based modern and infuses them with classic jazz techniques to create a moving, musical and challenging experience.

Beginning with a thorough warm-up that pulls from many masters of dance—Alvin Ailey, Lester Horton, Martha Graham, Talley Beatty, Bob Fosse—the student will be able to move at their own pace.

Next, simple yet detailed, cardio-focused exercises across-the-floor will help to strengthen the student's technique while fine tuning their eye for detail. We end with a combination to music that will challenge the student's perception of typical jazz or contemporary dance.

Complex but attainable rhythmic patterns will be given with specific notes and references to masterworks.
