taken on a whim with LA-based photographer Eric Politzer, these photos feature three loves of my life: my puppy, my skin and my heels. special thanks to Eric for making this a fun and entertaining shoot and for keeping his cool with Sherlock running all around the studio.
Eric Politzer (shoots) again! this time, i called upon this awesome photographer to shoot me and some of my then fellow Ailey dancers for the campaign for REVEAL, a benefit concert featuring choreography and performances by the Ailey dancers. this is a small sampling of the images he captured.
Melika and I had been playing digital phone tag for over a year, on two different continents. We kept missing each other, to the point that I had almost given up on ever shooting with her. Luckily, she persisted. A sunny day on Roosevelt Island — a new adventure for both of us — lent itself to beautiful lighting, gorgeous shadows and, thanks to Melika’s unmatched eye, these wonderful photos (if I say so myself).
a day well spent with master photographer Lois Greenfield, this shoot incorporated many of her "old school" tricks with common, household items and her signature lighting techniques.
shooting with the amazingly talented and humble Andrew Graham was a real delight. we trekked to his Redding Studio in the Connecticut woods for a great afternoon of hanging out, playing with the pups (he has two!) and making great art together. he’s a true master at his craft.
1, 2 3, BAM!
Las Vegas-based photographer Jerry Metellus is famous for his high-energy shoots and being one of the coolest cats around. he's shot for some of the most famous celebrities in the industry! Jerry is responsible for my absolute favorite shot -- with Jacqueline Green -- and just so there's no question about it: THERE'S NO PHOTOSHOP!
jerry strikes again, this time with a few of my fellow cast members of Disney’s The Lion King! for three weeks, the show performed at The Smith Center in Las Vegas and on a rare day off, i talked some folks into getting in front of this genius’ lens.
i think we made some magic (again).
Atlanta-based photographer Richard Calmes brought his signature themes and dramatic lighting to our collaborative shoot. He truly is a master at his craft and I was proud to be invited to be shot by him personally.
an impromptu shoot in Paris, France gave birth to an awesome dance shot -- caught on the first attempt -- inspired by Julien's seemingly innocent request to "do something [he'd] never seen before." if only he'd have caught the crumpled heap i turned into the moment after the layout...
an amazing husband-and-wife team, the photographers behind NYC Dance Project create stunning image after stunning image of the world's foremost dancers from the most visible dance companies around the world. it was truly am honor to be in front of their lens with some of my fellow Ailey dancers -- Michael Jackson, Jr., Jacquelin Harris and Daniel Harder.
